Bible Matters
This is a little off my normal subjects. I normally teach on personal and business success on one site and Bible Study on another, but feel I have to write about this attach on the Bible.
I am a few days out of date on this one, but I have just heard today that Bradley LaShawn Fowler, a homosexual man who has a blog on Sen. Barack Obama's campaign website is suing two major Christian publishers for violating his constitutional rights and causing emotional pain, because the Bible versions they publish refer to homosexuality as a sin. According to Grand Rapids Press, he is seeking $60 million from Zondervan and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Bradley FowlerWow, they really defended the Bible there didn't they!
Fowler says in his complaint against Zondervan that the publisher intended to design a religious, sacred document to reflect an individual opinion or a group's conclusion to cause "me or anyone who is a homosexual to endure verbal abuse, discrimination, episodes of hate, and physical violence ... including murder." Does he know know that the Bible is a little older than Zondervan? That they have only translated it? or in their words printed someone else's translation?
In the last few hundred years many 'sacred documents' have been designed, but you can not really accuse Zondervan of designing the Bible, nor this 'problem' into the Bible.
My main point in this article is that although Bradley will lose his case, well will probably lose it this time, there is an insidious push against the Bible that will not let up until the Bible is made illegal. Just as the gay moment has pushed it's way into the church, then church leadership, and the feminist movement pushed their way into the pulpit, so the steady drip drip will work it's way against the Bible.
I am not denying God ability to preserve our free access to the Bible, but you can not rely on God doing this. Today, and throughout history, in many places, it is illegal to have a Bible, and many people have died because they have had a Bible or so that you could have one today!
We must remember that there are other lines of attack on the Bible, do you think that the Muslims will allow you the Bible if they manage to get Sharia law into your country?
God bless you, and learn some Bible of by heart

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)Thank you for this article Bradley, I had not heard of this particular attack on Christianity, but am not surprised at all. As long as people like yourself stand up and get the word out there will be defenders of the Word still in American and elsewhere. Keep up the good work. Thanks for your comments. there are a lot of attacks on the word and the church and it is only going to get worse. I am in the UK, the the church is pretty sick here, few churches would hold to old fashioned Bible Christianity. I have recently posted a new item on the UN and its attack on the Church on my bible-matters site, I would value your comments on that.
